Depending on the time of year life at the Herend manufactory starts before dawn since many painters begin their day at 6 am and all have to be there by 7:30 am. While the early start becomes habitual it can still be tough during the dark days of winter. What softens the blow as the artists make their way to work is when the birds start singing their songs - a sign of warmer and longer days to come. While intended for the female of the species the artists cannot help but feel that that the songs contain notes of encouragement for them as well. Touched by one little birds daily morning show appearance near the gates of the factory the artists decided to immortalize their feathery friend in porcelain.
