The elegant high-culture world that geisha are a part of is called karyukai or the flower and willow world. With that in mind the Herend artists have reinterpreted their geisha originally created in 1943 by Gyula Maugsch. They have dressed her up in a kimono in the ornate Empereur pattern which features lotus blossoms among other flower motifs finished off by a striking green border alluding to the long sweeping branches of the willow tree. This level of detail takes three Herend artists a combined total of 42 hours to complete.
