This striking elephant is a replica of an antique figurine depicting an elephant carrying goods along the silk road. The silk road was an interconnected series of ancient trading routes stretching from China to the Mediterranean Sea. The silk road not only served as a means of moving precious commodities back and forth but was also significant for bringing new cultural influences. This Pink Elephant figurine certainly demonstrates this Eastern influence through its highly ornate decorative style including the dramatic rug on its back. The figurine was reissued from the Herend archives to commemorate the Manufacturers 180th anniversary.
