Herend China Buddha Reserve Collection
Trimmed in 24k gold
8 1/2 inches high. Limited Edition of 250
Reserve Collection Buddha is modeled after a smaller version sculpted in 1937 by Kata Gacser. The chinoiserie design decorating Buddhas robe was created in 1996 to symbolize autumn with its glorious colors of nature offset by a sense of mourning over the pending harshness of winter. The skills of eighteen Herend craftspeople are required to create each piece which takes over a day to paint.
