Riverbero refers to an ancient Italian technique of painting a lustrous design upon ceramic. Artisans in the town of Gubbio, Italy developed this beautiful technique during the Renaissance. The pieces were hand painted with a reflective or luster finish. Originally, the technique was used to create wall plates, which depicted noble rank or the coat of arms of wealthy Italian families.
